Responsible for the security and safety of all patients, staff, volunteers, visitors, and others while on-site at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. Responsible for the daily operations and supervision of the Public Safety department. Functions as a Co-Safety Officer and designated Emergency Manager, and is responsible for system-wide Emergency Planning/ Management. Acts as advisor and consultant to administration and staff regarding all security/safety /emergency management matters. Monitors department performance via various statistical records, surveys and direct observation to provide for efficiency and outstanding customer service. Carefully tracks incident trends and conducts investigations to assist in developing the Security Management Plan. Meets regulatory requirements and works closely with Public Safety supervisors on personnel, training and other security related issues. This leader plans, develops and directs the activities of the Safety and Security department, and sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring department and division projects and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS: Three 3 years of law enforcement or security management in first line supervision is required. Previous military experience is preferred. Designation as a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator and or as a Certified Protection Professional is preferred. Knowledgeable of Joint Commission standards related to Safety Security Emergency Management is preferred. Previous participation in a Joint Commission survey as a key security safety emergency management leader is preferred. Experience in criminal investigations and interview techniques preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is required. Associate degree and two 2 years of security law enforcement related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will substitute for the required Bachelor’s degree.
