Assess plan implement and evaluate therapeutic respiratory care to patients requiring critical care services for the diagnosis treatment assessment and evaluation of acute and chronic episodes of cardio-pulmonary disease. Primary therapeutic modalities include airway management blood gas sampling cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and administration of pharmacological agents to the tracheo-broncial tree complete ventilator management and participation in hemodynamic monitoring. With Pulmonary Council and department approval perform elective and emergency intubations under the direction of the Team Leader or Specialist inserting of arterial lines. Accept verbal and phone orders from physicians as defined by policy. Consultation is provided to physicians nurse patients families and other clinical professional staff. Initiates therapy based on department Patient Care Protocols. NICU approved therapists with department and neonatologist approval assist at deliveries perform intubations capillary blood sampling and analysis. Functions as an integral member of the Critical Care staff or other support services who delivers routine and advanced cardiopulmonary support to patients.


Licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with valid Florida State license under the Florida State Chapter 468 as RRT is required. Current BLS CPR certification is required. Demonstrated ability to work and plan with others in a team setting while being creative and time effective is preferred.
